Transbay Transit Center
I just found out about the Transbay Transit Center’s 25 year plan today, only six months late. From the few pictures I saw it looks like a pretty cool and massive project ($4.185 billion). But this is a little bit of hope for my future as a structural or civil engineer in the Bay Area. Even though I’m sure it’ll take more than 25 years to complete. Just changing the...

Switching My Blog
I’m definitely thinking about switching my blog over to posterous. Partly because it allows comments, and partly because I think I like being able to post by email. It just seems like a nicer way to do things. Plus the added bonus of excellent twitter integration makes me dig it even more. Posted via email from Good Foot Skills | Comment »

And The Boys... - Angus & Julia Stone (3:10)
via thesixtyone.com This is the first song that came in when I logged into thesixtyone.com. I really just wanted to test sharing it. But I’ll tell you what this song is pretty decent. Also, if you haven’t been to thesixtyone.com you should give it a look. Very cool and simple design. Posted via email from Good Foot Skills | Comment »

With Italy not making the next round of the world...
I don’t think that’s what we are seeing. Many of the other European teams have great young players on them. For example Germany is led by Ozil, Mueller and Podolski. The first two are under 20 and Podolski isn’t too far over. I think what we are really seeing is that soccer is a young persons game. Italy came into this tournament with a team that was just four years older than...

Team USA - college vs team academies? ...
This has been one of the big questions about US Soccer for awhile now. I think that article brings up some good points and questions. But what is really interesting is they said that in England if you aren’t starting by 22, you should quit. Because of the way development occurs in other countries players are better at younger ages. I think the majority of the top 10 players in the world are...

The Beauty of Alvin Greene →
Interesting article about a South Carolina Democratic Primary for Senate. This sums up the article:  Greene’s fairy-tale mystery victory is one of the most joyfully refreshing developments in modern politics, because it subversively suggests that everything we think we know about campaigns, elections, and democracy itself might be completely wrong. The voters may ignore almost everything we have...

World Cup - are Americans showing more interest in...
I think more Americans are showing an interest in soccer, and at least the World Cup. But it is still one of those sports that many don’t understand and can’t see how a 1-0 game can still be a great game to watch. We’ll see what interest is like after the US vs. England game on Saturday. Especially if the US wins. And yes, US football is still King. It’s been the King over...

Eleven Shout Outs to Arrested Development's Cast's... →
This is the kind of post that makes me want to watch Arrested Development again and again to try and catch every reference and joke that they make. I didn’t know about most of these. My favorite one on this list is Bob Loblaw replacing Barry Zuckercorn.

Interesting article about TV demographics. But this is the best part: He said there was only a 20 percent overlap of “Family Guy” viewers moving from TBS to Adult Swim. Maybe people are investing to much in Family Guy.

Word of the Day
I have bad news for anyone who was enjoying the “word of the day” from the executive director at the Y. He resigned last Friday, so I will be receiving no more words of wisdom from him. I thought about just posting my own “word of the day”s but that really wouldn’t be the same thing.

Does the Big Ten suffer from the referees allowing...
This is a difficult question and my lack of recent basketball watching makes it hard for me. But, I do think the Big Ten has suffered from that in the past, except for maybe Michigan St (they always seem to have plenty of role player big men). The “wimpy” ref issue is more of a problem for teams that rely on their big men to win games. Teams that rely mostly on guard play can get away...

Word of the Day
Today’s word of the day required some explanation before hand, because of it’s vulgar nature and football related origin. As it turns out the Executive Director was from a bad neighborhood and played football. And this phrase was used sometime by the football players. Bitches go home, mother f*ckers stay and do another set. It took him a long time to tell me this because you...

If you are a Lost fan I would suggest checking out Jimmy Fallon’s parody of it, Late. It’s pretty funny and Jimmy does a great Jack impression in the latest episode.

Word of the Day
No, this is not about picking a big word and trying to use it as much as possible during the day. This is about the Executive Director at the Y. Almost everyday he asks me for the “word of the day”. Meaning he wants me to say something inspirational. For the first few weeks I never had anything, but he always has something. He’s even gone so far as to give me a copy of Rudyard...

How does a California spring differ from a...
I don’t think the actual spring itself is any different. But I judge seasons more by feel and what plants are doing than the date. The biggest difference is that it is far earlier. California pretty much just has Fall from December to February where it rains every other day. But then it stops raining and it’s Spring. And unlike Missouri and Wisconsin, I don’t fear a winter...

How busted is your bracket? Who are you rooting...
My bracket is totally busted. I only have two final four teams left, Syracuse and West Virgina. Kansas losing was the final straw. The Badgers loss didn’t effect my bracket too much. With them out I’m going to root for Northern Iowa (it’s hard not cheer for Egleseder) and Xavier (because I always do) even though they probably won’t make it past the next round. What do...
